Soorma Bhopali, a name comes in your mind when you hear name Bhopal but today you will get 1 more reason to remember Bhopal. Hanumantrao knate, a farmer in gunkheda village changed the destiny of the village by doing farming of sewanti flowers.
In gunkheda village, crops were destroyed due to some of the other reasons. People here were not able to farming because of bad weather conditions.
A small village just with 255 houses and 1173 people living there, fate of the village started changing when one farmer of the village thought of changing the method of farming. Hanumantrao knate, alone guided the whole village. Along with himself, he taught the whole village the advanced way of flower farming.
The journey from INR 55,000 to INR 2 crore-
In the first year itself, hanumantrao’s striving paid him back and with an investment of INR 30K, he earned revenue of INR 550K. Happy with revenue of sewanti flowers, he decided to do farming in more farms. Today, he earns the profit by doing farming of marigold, daisy and other flowers in the 2.5-acre land.
Investment and profit-
- In the year 2016-2017, hanumantrao took advantage of horticulture’s sheltered farming. He took help from the department of INR 4675K. With this money, he made poly house and started sewanti flowers farming in 0.25 acres.
- 18-20 tons of flowers are produced in 0.25 acres polyhouse. Flowers which are grown in polyhouse have good quality are easily sold at Rs. 250 per kg.
- 30 tons of flowers are produced in 1.5 acres of open farms. In nearby markets And Nagpur, these are sold at Rs.125 kg.
- In present, sewanti and other flowers are grown on 2.5-acre farms, INR 7500K to INR 800K profit is earned.
He went to Netherland for learning new techniques-
After seeing progress in society and farming horticulture department sent him to Netherland in the year 2016-2017. On his foreign tour, he learned many things and he learned all things with full concentration and hard work and taught others also.
The result is that whole now do only flower farming in 70 acres. With this farmers are earning Rs. 2crores. Sewanti flower farming is a blessing for this village.

Changes in the village-
In last 10 years standard of living raised in the village after sewanti farming. All are having houses which were earlier not in good conditions, they are sending their children to private schools in the city. All things for comfort are now available in this village. We can say that after using modern technology Gunkhera is now a happy village.
